When Faith Deliverance Church purchased their building and property at 450 Turner Road from another church, officials took a second look at the current outdoor lighting. “We needed lights, and the existing lights were old,” said the Church Deacon. “I wanted new lights.” The old lights were High Pressure Sodium (HPS) fixtures that provided yellowish light and did not illuminate all of the property. The Deacon said because there were “areas of darkness” the outdated lighting created safety concerns for the congregation during evening events.
Energy-efficient solution
AES Miami Valley Lighting suggested that Light Emitting Diode (LED) parking lot fixtures would be more energy efficient and cast a brighter light over a wider area – providing energy savings and reducing safety issues. Nine inefficient HPS fixtures were replaced with seven new LEDs that use 34% less energy. “When things are fine nobody notices, but when things go wrong, everybody complains,” the Deacon said. Since the installation of the new lighting, there have not been any complaints.
